Apa Terjadi Ketika Proses Kolonoskopi? 

  • Selepas diberkan sedatif, Doktor akan memeriksa keadaan usu besar(kolon) dan rektum menggunakan kolonoskop, sejenis tiub fleksibel yang lebarnya lebih kurang 2 jari
  •  Alat kolonoskop ini mempunyai kamera dan lampu, untuk membantu pakar bedah melakukan tinjauan dan mengesan kedudukan sebarang ulcer, polips kolon, ketumbuhan ataupun kawasan yang mengalami keradangan.
  •  Kolonoskopi juga merupakan kaedah yang digunakan oleh pakar bedah ketika membuang tisu kolon untuk biopsi.
  • Dengan menggunakan alat yang terdpat pada hujung kolonoskop, doktor dapat membuang polips, jiak ianya wujud dalam kolon.
  • Tisu polips kemudiannya dihantar kepada ahli patologi dan ia akan diperiksa dibawah mikroskop untuk mengesan jika terdapat sel kanser atau sel pra kanser. ini menjadikan kolonoskop sebagai teknik mengesan dan rawatn efektif untuk kanser kolon.
